Objectives

To provide personnel who are required to both enter, coordinate and manage HV operational areas with an understanding of the knowledge required to identify the hazards, and the safe systems of work needed in and around High Voltage networks and apparatus.

  • Have an awareness of current Health and Safety Legislation Associated with the control and operation of High Voltage systems and a knowledge of the systems of work to comply.

  • Have knowledge of behavioural factors affecting electrical work

  • Understand the process and procedures when entering High Voltage substations

  • Be aware of switchgear designs and their ratings

  • Understand the considerations when planning HV work and the steps necessary to create safe work zones
