Understand the key hazards of electricity and how danger may arise
Understand how behavioural factors affect your working practices and approach to risks
Gain the knowledge of current safety legislation associated with the control and operation of a high voltage system
Understand high voltage switchgear designs and their ratings
Understanding of how to plan high voltage work and the steps necessary to create safe work zones
Have practice creating switching schedules for the safe operation on high voltage systems and other electrical safety documentation
Carry out desk top exercises on planning complex operations and writing electrical safety documentation to support this work
Gain practical experience understanding cable works, including techniques for cable identification, making safe at the point of work by spiking cables, phase rotation and pressure testing
Understand the principles of protection and typical devices used
Gain practical switching experience on various types of high voltage equipment
