Our client required assistance with transitioning a team of Coal Fired operators from Ratcliffe Power Station to the challenge of training in the operation and management of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) systems.  

Challenges presented: 

Cottam CDC sought a site-specific programme that would provide the experienced Coal Fired operation team members with the underpinning knowledge to play active roles, in a CCGT plant.   

Our solution: 

Through excellent communication with the team, we gained a comprehensive understanding of the requirements, resulting in an agreed scope of work and the development of a site-specific training course. The course was arranged for a mutually agreed date and training began on 16th December 2024. 

The five day course was designed with engaging and interactive presentations, including studying drawings and DCS screenshots, culminating in an assessment of knowledge at the end of the course.

All attendees did exceptionally well in their assessments, with the majority achieving a level of distinction.  

Benefits included: 

As the course was tailored to our client, the attendees gained the underpinning knowledge specific to their operating CCGT plant.  

Phil was able to adapt his approach in the classroom, due to individual questions surrounding the concept areas, i.e triple pressure HRSG of the plant gained. This was proved useful during the training delivery.

Summarising: 

The training course was successfully delivered to the attendees at Cottam CDC with each of them gaining knowledge to take forward in their new roles. They highlighted, the whole experience had been an enhancement of their knowledge and experience, whilst considered the five days were a beneficial exercise.

The successful delivery of this bespoke course underscores our attention to detail and effective communication between all involved.
